Secrets I learned after blogging
I am just like most of you, I also wake up with an annoying alarm clock on the side and sleep in the funniest night suit ever. I laugh and cry just like you do and I am equally lazy like most of you!
I come from a small town where I have never faced pretentiousness or judgements. I have always lived life around positive people who believed in motivating rather than being a disappointment. I have believed in the concept of being natural and not faking things. And it’s not surprising to hear the word pretentiousness, when in the fashion industry.
You will always find hundreds of people commenting on how you should look or wear and just when you are out there in the public, believe me there is a lot of pressure – everyone expects you to look cute, look sexy, be nice, talk, never look bad – that’s pressure! I am sure you can relate, everyone has pressure in some way or the other.
You kinda lose sight when you hear so much everyday and I realised that I can’t change the way people think but just be the way I am – connect to people in the most natural way because that’s how we all should be, right?
A few things that I keep hearing most of the times and maybe you hear it too in some form or the other. I thought I should share because it’s not always glamorous as you think:
- It’s a love and hate relationship
Just like you have a love and hate relationship with your boyfriend, it’s kinda same with your users. Keeping the love bit aside, there will always be a group who will keep a check on your lifestyle. The moment something goes wrong, they will be downright mean.
But I want to say thank you to this group because I have learnt a valuable life skill – dealing with criticism.
So, there was this time when someone commented on a youtube video
‘You shouldn’t show your face without makeup, you look ugly and it’s better for you to wear makeup all the time otherwise people will die’
All the time? Well, I am not a hindi serial actor who has makeup even 2am. I am glad I don’t wear makeup all the time.
- Body acceptance, why not?
I totally feel ‘Being you is the new SEXY’
Just like a lot of people are body shamed, I was chubby shamed. Can’t disclose the place but the only thing I used to hear was ‘This is not for you! You are kinda chubby for this.’
Well, before this I always thought I have a nice body, thanks for putting me in doubt?
- Some strangers might definitely find you a JERK
This makes me laugh all the time! Insecurity has become a thing among teenagers.
There was this time when I was going through my notifications and I randomly pressed the follow button. The admirer definitely got really happy that I followed her page and after a while when I realised, unfortunately I had to unfollow her.
She called me just like other wanna be bloggers who wants attention and followers.
UMMMMMMM…don’t know what to say!
- Thick skin please
There was this day when I really wanted to work for a brand and I faced rejection because they thought, I wasn’t capable for the same. After 6 months, they were kinda desperate to collaborate with me because I had the right audience for them.
Karma gives you back!
- Never lose sight in what you do
Be it your public profile or work space, there will thousands of comments on how you should be or how you should behave. This used to get on me before but after a point, you don’t care. Always be confident in what you do or wear!
And it can go on…
Everything here has taught me some valuable skills and it’s honestly good for personal growth. Could I have learned these life skills elsewhere? Absolutely not. And if anyone here also thinks that blogging was just about pictures, it’s more than that! 😀
It’s takes a while and it’s a long journey to stick to believing yourself. You might face judgements every single day, maybe for work, maybe for high expectations, in the end all you have to do is believe in yourself because it’s you can change this!
Never give up on anything and I really wanted to tell you that you guys have been integral part of my journey. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Whatever I am, whoever I am, it’s all because of you. No matter it’s love or hate ( well, mostly love), you guys have helped in each step of my journey to grow as a person and become who I am today. I love each one of you and this comes straight from my heart.
Just in case you are having a bad day, you got to live for yourself and make things work. Oh wait! You can also treat yourself waffles and ice cream and pop some hot bubble bath to destress!
A big shoutout to Frenesi Fashion who sent across this ‘worst behaviour’ sweat. Love love the sweat! I paired it up with black cutout palazzos with minimal makeup. Don’t forget to check them out on Instagram or Facebook as Frenesi Fashion.
